Shelburne Police found three youths who were exposed to the material in secured town building.
Shelburne Police have identified three youth – under age 12 – who broke into an ancient building in town, and were exposed to asbestos.
Thursday night before 6 pm, a town employee saw three people leaving a storage building that is infrequently used in the west end.
The children had gone into a sealed part of the building that had asbestos, so police wanted to try and get them medical help as soon as possible.
Tips came in from the public, and youths are currently getting examined in hospital.
Asbestos poses a significant health concern when it is disturbed, causing various cancers.
